Certified Wine Educator & Consultant

Melanie Webber is a certified wine educator, sommelier, writer and communications expert who helps wine industry professionals achieve their wine certifications and wine lovers deepen their appreciation and understanding of wine. At the core of everything Melanie does is her passion to make it fun to learn how to taste, assess and enjoy wine.
Melanie’s most important wine credential is a love of wine - and everything and everyone that glass of grape juice represents - a desire to share the joy of wine discovery and a ‘no-snobs allowed’ approach.
She holds the globally-recognized Diploma in Wine and Spirits from WSET as well as the French Wine Scholar and Spanish Wine Scholar (highest honors) certification from the Wine Scholar Guild and is certified by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust to teach WSET Level One, Two and Three Awards in Wine. Melanie’s MWWine School is an approved program provider of WSET courses in Asheville, North Carolina. She has also taught WSET L1, 2, and 3 Award in Wines, since 2018, at The Wine House WSET APP Satellite program in Paso Robles, helping hundreds of industry professionals and wine lovers achieve their certifications. She has taught in French Wine Scholar and Diploma WSET programs in Los Angeles. Melanie also uses her wine knowledge for custom tastings designed to help corporations team-build, clubs bond and groups of friends come together to have fun. Melanie blogs under the BottlePoet handle and consults on wine lists, wine and food pairings, and winery communications. She is part of the founding team of the world-renowned The Garagiste Wine Festival, and has directed their public relations since 2011. A veteran public relations and comms expert, she has owned and headed the award-winning Public Relations Agency, mWEBB Communications, since 2009.

For a wine novice like me, the at-home tasting with Melanie was a whole new experience. She really starts with the basics rather than using terms that would fly right over my head. The food pairing was fantastic and the whole experience was a lot of fun. I would definitely do it again for a refresher and to test my knowledge!
